UAE drivers get four black points reduction on first day back to school

As the UAE's new academic year begins, Ras Al Khaimah Police have rolled out a targeted road safety initiative to ease school zone congestion and safeguard students. Aligned with the Ministry of Interior’s nationwide “Accident Free Day” campaign, motorists who pledge to drive safely, avoiding violations or accidents, on the first day of school will receive a reduction of four black points from their licence record.
Brigadier Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director General of Central Operations at RAK Police, emphasized that a comprehensive field plan is in place to protect students and parents during peak drop-off and pick-up times. Patrol units will be deployed strategically at known traffic “hot spots,” especially near schools and educational facilities. These efforts are designed to maintain smooth traffic flows, mitigate bottlenecks, and deliver prompt assistance where necessary.
The initiative complements broader efforts nationwide: the Ministry of Interior’s annual “Accident Free Day” encourages drivers across the UAE to commit to safe driving on the first day of the academic year, August 25, 2025. Drivers who sign a pledge via the MOI’s online portal and adhere to traffic rules throughout the day are eligible for an automatic four point deduction, applied electronically by September 15, without requiring physical visits to service centres.
This campaign highlights a broader push to elevate road safety as schools reopen. Drivers are encouraged to fasten seatbelts, obey speed limits, maintain safe distances, avoid distractions like mobile phone usage, and yield to pedestrians and emergency vehicles.
Ras Al Khaimah's localized approach, blending enforcement with community awareness and partnerships with the Ministry of Education, Emirates Transport, and traffic systems firm Saaed, demonstrates a proactive commitment to student safety on one of the UAE’s busiest days for road traffic.
Overall, both the federal “Accident Free Day” campaign and the RAK police’s focused implementation reflect a unified goal: to instill a culture of responsible driving, reduce school zone accidents, and protect the community as young learners head back to classrooms.
