‘Home of Gold’: What You Need to Know About Dubai’s New Gold District

Dubai has introduced a new purpose-built destination dedicated to the gold and jewellery trade, bringing together bullion dealers, wholesalers, retailers, investors and global brands within a single integrated hub. Branded as the emirate’s new “Home of Gold,” the Dubai Gold District is designed to consolidate the entire gold and jewellery ecosystem under one roof.

The district hosts more than 1,000 retailers across gold, jewellery, lifestyle, perfume and cosmetics categories, positioning it as one of the region’s largest specialised retail and trading zones for precious metals and related products.

A unified gold and jewellery ecosystem

Dubai Gold District has been developed as a specialised centre that combines multiple segments of the trade in one location. These include:

  1. Retail jewellery outlets

  2. Bullion trading

  3. Wholesale operations

  4. Investment-related services

  5. Bespoke and traditional jewellery makers

The integrated model is aimed at improving convenience for traders, investors and consumers by clustering the full value chain within a single district.

More than just gold retail

Despite its name, the development extends beyond gold-focused businesses. The retail mix also covers a broader lifestyle segment, including:

  1. Diamonds and coloured gemstones

  2. Watch collections

  3. Fashion and lifestyle stores

  4. Perfume and cosmetics outlets

  5. Heritage and traditional jewellery brands

Major regional and international jewellery brands are present, including Jawhara Jewellery, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Al Romaizan and Tanishq. Joyalukkas has also announced plans for a 24,000-square-foot flagship store, expected to be its largest showroom in the Middle East.

Hotels, dining and visitor facilities

The district is being positioned not only as a trading and retail centre but also as a lifestyle and tourism destination. Planned visitor infrastructure includes:

  1. Cafés and casual dining outlets

  2. Fast food and fine dining restaurants

  3. More than 1,000 guest rooms

  4. Six hotels catering to tourists and trade visitors

This hospitality component is intended to support international buyers, exhibitors and business travellers visiting the hub.

World’s first planned ‘Gold Street’

One of the district’s signature attractions will be a planned “Gold Street,” described as the world’s first street constructed using gold elements. The feature is expected to serve as a landmark attraction and visual centrepiece, with additional details to be released in phases.

Opening hours

According to official information, Dubai Gold District operates daily from 10am to 10pm, from Monday through Sunday.
