Fly back to the memories of kite-flying at Dubai International Kite Fest 2019

With the impending International Kite Fest that will mark its second successful year, the busy bunch of adults in Dubai is ready to take a flight back to some good old memories while the kids are all set to cheer and have fun. Every child fantasizes kite flying and it is indeed an enthralling experience. Many people cherish a rich and adventurous childhood of kite making, kite fighting and kite flying competition. Kite flying competitions are in fact common in many parts of the world.

During which participants of varying ages often put forth a fire-sparkling performance. Kite flying is not as easy as it might seem to be. A lot of clever tactics and scientific techniques contribute to making one an ace kite flyer. The making of a kite also calls for a lot of effort. People who take kite flying seriously, work for it with a lot of dedication. Efficient kite makers often spend days working on the kites so that at the end, there is a kite that surpasses that of anybody else in the competition. Traditionally kites are made from bamboo, glue, string and paper.

Some might tread back to childhood memories of having to shave the bamboo for hours for the centre and cross spars. Competitors in a kite flying tournament also get their strings coated in ground glass. The string comes out fit for the task after going through the mixture of ground glass and glue. This sharp gooey string is then left to dry. Once dried, this string is wound around a wooden spool. Finally on the day of the competition people settle down on the top of terraces, balconies and rooftops gasping, waiting, and hordes of chirpy children take in to the streets making it an exciting event for everybody to enjoy.

That is one thing peculiar about kite flying; if flying a kite elates ones spirits, watching a hundred kites fly adrift in the sky brings another kind of joy worth experiencing.
