Dubai Metro introduces new signs across all stations

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Keolis–MHI, has rolled out a comprehensive signage upgrade across all Dubai Metro and Tram stations to enhance passenger navigation and overall commuter experience.

As part of the initiative, approximately 9,000 wayfinding signs were installed and replaced across the Red and Green Lines, requiring nearly 11,000 work hours. Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Operations at RTA’s Rail Agency, explained that the project aimed to modernize entry and exit signs, improve visibility, and streamline passenger flow.

One of the key updates includes exit signs highlighted in bright yellow boxes, clearer platform directional indicators, and new floor stickers guiding commuters towards the correct train lines. These improvements are designed to make journeys smoother, especially during peak hours.

In addition, behavioral messages have been introduced through stickers placed across stations and waiting areas. These encourage passengers to maintain proper etiquette, contributing to a more comfortable and respectful travel environment.

Special attention was also given to Women and Children cabins and Gold Class cabins. To minimize unauthorized use, the previous floor markings have been replaced with prominent pink and gold boards clearly labeled “Women and Children Cabin” and “Gold Class Cabin.”

To ensure consistency, updates were extended to RTA’s smart systems, mobile apps, train audio announcements, platform announcements, and social media channels, aligning visual and audio guidance across all platforms.

This initiative reflects RTA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing commuter convenience and safety while promoting smoother passenger movement throughout Dubai Metro stations.
