Emirates Green Development Council to host High-level National Meeting on Sustainable Finance

The Emirates Green Development Council will host high-level nationwide conference on sustainable financing with the objective of defining the advancement and application of the UAE Green Growth Strategy from November 11 to 12, 2015 at The H Hotel in Dubai. Organized in partnership with the UAE Central Bank, the Insurance Authority, the Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA), Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), and the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), the conference will highlight the essential role of the monetary sector and investment in green tasks and encourage wider involvement.

The seminar belongs to the preparations for hosting the 14th Meeting of the Global Roundtable, in cooperation with the UNEP FI under the theme 'Islamic Finance in the Context of Green Economy and Sustainable Development' which will be kept in Dubai in 2016. To be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, the conference will ensure favorable interaction and participation of the country's financial sector.

The conference, which will be gone to by a group of international experts, intends to assess the existing situation in addition to future investment chances in green projects. This will enable them to bring systemic change in the funding areas of sustainable development sector through the presentation of the outcomes of the survey "to examine the present status and future prospects of the monetary sector to fund green investments" monitored by the Board of Emirates Green advancement.

The program for the first day includes a welcome Note by H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water. The UAE President Council requires workshops on green advancement to highlight the principle and importance of green funding along with evaluate the current situation in green investments at the national and worldwide levels. The Council will organize comprehensive workshops for the banking sector on the 2nd day in the green axes and funding by a group of professionals from the UNEP FI in the key areas of innovation in green funding.
