Writing Dubai Rental Disputes Center Settles 2,350 Cases Worth Dh401 Million in Nine Months

Dubai’s Rental Disputes Center (RDC) resolved 2,350 rental disputes through amicable settlements during the first nine months of 2026, with the cases valued at Dh401 million.

The cases, concluded between January and the end of September, took an average of six days to resolve, highlighting the centre’s efforts to accelerate dispute resolution while protecting the legal rights of landlords and tenants.

The results reflect the RDC’s continued focus on strengthening conciliation mechanisms and improving the efficiency of judicial services amid the growth of Dubai’s rental market.

Rental Disputes Resolved in an Average of Six Days

The RDC’s Conciliation and Settlement Department handles disputes by helping parties reach mutually acceptable agreements without proceeding through formal litigation.

According to the centre, the average resolution time of six days demonstrates its ability to review disputes, facilitate discussions and help parties reach settlements within a structured legal framework.

The process aims to provide a more flexible route to resolving disagreements while maintaining procedural standards and safeguarding the interests of all parties involved.

Settlement Agreements Can Be Legally Enforceable

Amicable settlement is a key alternative dispute resolution mechanism used by the RDC to address disagreements arising from rental relationships.

Under the process, parties work towards a common understanding and can conclude a settlement agreement approved by the supervising judge. The approved agreement has the force of an enforceable instrument.

This allows landlords and tenants to reach agreed outcomes without necessarily pursuing lengthy court proceedings, while retaining the legal protections provided by the settlement framework.

RDC Focuses on Protecting Landlord and Tenant Rights

Judge Abdulqader Mousa Mohammed, Chairman of the Rental Disputes Center, said the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the amicable settlement mechanism in resolving rental disputes promptly.

He said timely resolution, procedural quality and the protection of rights remained central to the centre’s approach, supported by specialised expertise and a focus on the needs of disputing parties.

Mohammed added that the RDC continued to develop its legal framework to support contractual stability and strengthen confidence in Dubai’s judicial system.

Conciliation Helps Reduce the Cost of Prolonged Disputes

Settlement agreements can offer practical benefits to landlords and tenants by allowing them to negotiate outcomes that address their respective concerns.

Resolving disputes through conciliation can also help reduce the financial and social pressures associated with prolonged disagreements and formal litigation.

The process encourages cooperation and consensus, while giving parties a structured legal route to settle disputes and preserve contractual relationships where possible.

Dubai Strengthens Alternative Dispute Resolution

The RDC’s approach forms part of its wider efforts to maintain accessible and efficient dispute resolution mechanisms across Dubai’s rental sector.

As the emirate’s property market continues to develop, the centre aims to improve established procedures, ensure fair access to justice and promote amicable settlement as an effective option for resolving rental disagreements.

The latest figures underline the role of conciliation in helping landlords and tenants resolve disputes efficiently while supporting stability and confidence in Dubai’s rental market.
