The 2015 Annual EGBC Awards, which honour excellence in sustainability, have received strong response from across the Middle East, highlighting the increasing interest among building industry stakeholders in promoting green and sustainable building practices.

The awards will be presented in six main categories, including Green Facility Management Organisation of the Year, Green Building Material/Product Award, Green Building System Award, Green Building Research Award, Training Initiative of the Year; and Green Building of the year. The honour of Green Building of the Year will be presented in four new sub-categories this year including Green Hotel, Green School, Green Commercial Building and Green Residential Building.

A special Award for Students, sponsored by EmiratesGBCs co-founder Dr Sadek Owainati, will also be presented to a university student for exceptional research work on a subject related to green buildings in the Middle East.

Saeed Al Abbar, Chairman of EmiratesGBC, said: The EGBC Awards are an integral part of our strategy to promote green building practices. The recognition to stakeholders for innovation and excellence in green building practices not only help us to promote awareness on sustainable built environments, but also encourage them to adopt innovative approaches in their new projects that will help transform the future of the building industry across the region.

The entries are currently being evaluated by an expert panel of judges representing private sector businesses, international Green Building Councils and academic institutions. KPMG is the Awards Auditor.

Jotun Paints is Platinum sponsor for the event, while Brookfield Multiplex and Caparol are Silver sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the 2015 Annual EGBC Awards and for further information email: info(at)emiratesgbc(dot)org.
