Toyota Gazoo Racing Secures 102nd WRC Victory with One-Two Finish at Rally del Paraguay

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team (TGR-WRT) achieved a dominant one-two finish at the FIA World Rally Championship’s (WRC) debut in Rally del Paraguay. Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais claimed their first-ever South American win in the No. 17 Toyota GR YARIS Rally1, marking Ogier’s fourth victory of the season. Teammates Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin secured second place in the No. 33 Toyota GR YARIS Rally1.

This ninth victory of the 2025 season also marked Toyota’s 102nd WRC triumph, equalling the record for the most victories by a manufacturer. The result extends Toyota’s lead in the manufacturers’ championship to 100 points, with four rounds left in the season.

Chairman’s Message

Akio Toyoda, Chairman of TGR-WRT, praised the team’s resilience:
“On the tough and completely new roads of Paraguay, Seb and Vincent achieved a magnificent victory. Thank you for never giving up and continuing to push through such rough conditions and bad weather! Elfyn and Scott also secured second place, and I’m really glad they were able to maintain the championship lead. This rally became a very meaningful one in our fight for the championship. Well done, team!”

Rally Paraguay Debut

The inaugural Paraguay round posed unique challenges with red clay gravel roads, shifting grip levels, and sharp rocks that tested both cars and tyres. Heavy downpours during the closing stages added further difficulty.

Ogier and Landais fought back from an early setback to secure victory with nine stage wins, finishing 26.2 seconds ahead. The performance marked Ogier’s 65th WRC career win and his first in South America.

Evans and Martin maintained composure on slippery stages, climbing to second place on the final test. The result strengthened Evans’ lead in the drivers’ championship to seven points.

Toyota’s Motorsport Commitment

Toyota has long been a contender across motorsports, including Formula One, the World Endurance Championship (WEC), and the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Since 2015, these efforts have been consolidated under the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing brand, reflecting the philosophy that “the roads build the people, and the people build the cars.” TGR continues to use motorsport as a testing ground for innovation, performance, and the pursuit of “ever-better” cars.

Next Round

Round 11 of the 2025 FIA WRC season heads to Chile from 11–14 September. Rally Chile will challenge drivers with fast, technical stages on both smooth and abrasive gravel surfaces in the Biobío region overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
