Torrente wins Grand Prix of Portugal

Shaun Torrente won in the Grand Prix of Portugal yesterday. Team Abu Dhabi made a bright start to their double title defense in F1h2O World Championship. Thani Al Qemzi secured a second position. Team Abu Dhabi duo scored a spectacular one-two finish in Portimao once again.

The defending F1 team champions had looked likely to dominate the Grand Prix of Portugal after Torrente had qualified 24 hours earlier from Al Qemzi which kick-started the championship following the opening round weather disruption in Saudi Arabia.

Al Qemzi was unable to cross his way into the lead from the off but the pressure had piled on his team-mate as four of 48 laps had left closed within 0.4s of the lead. Torrente held an impressive victory by a slender 1.38s leaving Al Qemzi who set the fastest time in free practice in second and Swede Jonas Andersson in the third position.

Earlier, Mohammed Al-Mehairibi from Team Abu Dhabi secured third place in the weekends second F4-S race won by Germans Max Stilz and Rashed Al-Remeithi finishing seventh.

2. Thani Al Qemzi piled the pressure on his team-mate, also saved his best for last in qualifying.
