Tawam Hospital Publicizes Working and Visiting Hours for Ramadan 2015

Tawam Hospital, as well as Al Wagan Hospital, has announced their working hours for all their facilities and departments during the holy month of Ramadan.

Tawam Hospital, in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine will continue to run their emergency services for 24 hours throughout the week, while the Urgent Care Clinic will open from 6:00pm to 12:00 midnight every day. From Sunday to Thursday, the Polyclinic will operate from 9:00am until 3:00pm and the Radiotherapy Clinic and Oncology Pediatric Clinic/Infusion Centre will run from 8:00am to 2:00pm. The Oncology Adult Clinic, Oncology Adult Infusion Center and all other hospital services will be open from 9:00am-3:00pm from Sunday to Thursday.

It is important that patients are aware of the new Ramadan timings in order to schedule their visits at the appropriate time and facility. For Al Wagan Hospital, the emergency department is open all hours every day while their General Practice will operate from 9:00am until 3:00am every day. From Sunday to Thursday, Internal Medicine will run from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Ob/Gyn from 9:00am until 3:00pm, Pediatric Clinic from 8:00pm to 12:30am and the Dental Clinic from 8:00am to 2:00pm.

The Holy Month of Ramadan is a special time. During this period, we remind patients and visitors that it is important to avoid common health problems such as dehydration, constipation, headaches and heartburn. When youre not fasting, make sure you drink plenty of fluids, eat a well-balanced diet with fiber-rich food, reduce caffeine intake, quit smoking and avoid exposure to direct sunlight, said Dr Shaikha Maayouf Al Ameri, Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Tawam Hospital.

Visiting Hours for general patients will be from 4:00pm to midnight on weekends and from 9:00am to midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays. For the ICU, PICU and HDU, visitors are allowed from 11:00am to midnight; however, parents are allowed to visit the NICU at all times.

For visitors, it is vital that they abide by general rules such as: children below 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult, one escort is allowed to stay with the patient with the doctors approval and sick visitors are not allowed to visit patients in order to prevent spreading of illness in the hospital. The only objects allowed from outside the hospital are a handbag, wrapped gifts, two blankets, mineral water carton, medium-size fruit basket, coffee and tea thermos, a sealed pot and up to three table plates.
