Supreme Legislation Committee to participate in GITEX Technology Week 2015

The Supreme Legislation Committee has completed its preparations for its participation at this years edition of GITEX Technology Week, the largest information and communications technology (ICT) event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, which will be held from October 18 to 22, 2015 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) under the theme, The Internet Future of Everything. During the event, the Supreme Legislation Committee will be showcasing its new Smart services portfolio, which have been specially designed according to the highest standards of excellence and innovation to support the efforts of Dubais transformation into one of the worlds leading Smart Cities.

The Supreme Legislation Committees participation at the event has been deemed highly important as the committee is a key representative of the government of Dubai across all matters concerning federal legislature, foreign conventions and international treaties.

H.E. Ahmad Bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of Supreme Legislation Committee, said: Our presence at this years edition of GITEX Technology Week demonstrates our commitment towards the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to create a Smart and innovative government that can effectively respond to changes while also providing quick and effective solutions that can drive in more happiness and ensure the wellbeing of society. Our keenness to develop an integrated innovative portfolio of smart applications and services combined with our belief in the importance of employing technological development optimally in our strategic objectives will help in the development of a knowledge base that will create an integrated legislative system that will support sustainable development plans in Dubai.

Al Muhairi further shared, Our participation at last year's edition of GITEX proved to be very successful, especially with the launching of the 'Official Gazette,' which received overwhelming response from decision makers because of its featured services like legislation in English and Arabic, legal opinion services and other offered services. We look forward to this year's event as it will allow us a strategic platform to launch our new Smart applications, which is expected to create huge positive impact in making Dubai a highly integrated and connected Smart city under the objectives of the Dubai 2021 plan.

The Supreme Legislation Committee was established pursuant to Decree No. (23) of 2014 in line with the strategic plans of the Government of Dubai. The committee is tasked with the regulation and review of all issued legislation in Dubai via the adoption of a clear and effective procedure and methodology; developing the legislative process and improving legislation quality and efficiency; creating a legal system that can fulfill the aspirations and visions of the emirate and ensure that legislative provisions are in compliance with the Constitution and applicable with both federal and local legislation.
