Sultan bin Tahnoon: Emirati Women Are Partners in Shaping the Future

H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of the “Frontline Heroes” Office, has highlighted the important role of Emirati women in the UAE’s development, describing them as key partners in shaping the country’s future.

Speaking ahead of Emirati Women’s Day on August 28, Sheikh Sultan said the annual occasion represents an important national milestone for recognising the achievements and contributions of Emirati women and their role in the UAE’s progress.

Emirati Women’s Empowerment Journey

Sheikh Sultan highlighted the progress made by Emirati women over recent decades under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation.

He described the UAE’s experience in empowering women and supporting their potential as a model of how national vision and continued leadership support can create opportunities for women across a wide range of sectors.

According to Sheikh Sultan, this support has enabled Emirati women to enter fields that previously may not have been accessible to them, while allowing them to contribute their skills and capabilities to the country’s development.

Emirati Women’s Day Extended to a Month-Long Celebration

This year’s Emirati Women’s Day celebration will take on a broader format, with activities extending for the first time over an entire month from August 28 to September 28, 2026.

Held under the theme “We Emerge Stronger and Better,” the extended celebration is intended to provide a wider platform for recognising the achievements and contributions of Emirati women.

The month-long programme also offers an opportunity to highlight stories of women whose accomplishments may not otherwise receive attention within the traditional one-day celebration.

Women’s Role in Community Safety and Development

Sheikh Sultan said Emirati women have played an important role in safeguarding the security, safety and health of the community.

Their contribution has been demonstrated during various challenges faced by the UAE, with women serving across different fields, including frontline roles, leadership positions and decision-making responsibilities.

He described Emirati women as indispensable partners in the UAE’s sustainable development journey, noting their contributions both within their communities and across professional and national institutions.

Achievements Across Education, Careers and Innovation

Sheikh Sultan also praised the significant progress Emirati women have made in education, professional fields and innovation.

He expressed pride in the prominent positions Emirati women have attained and highlighted their continued contributions to the country's development.

He extended his congratulations to Emirati women on Emirati Women’s Day, saying the month-long celebration recognises their ongoing role and achievements and reflects the importance of their contributions to the UAE’s present and future.
