The International Code Council (ICC) will participate as an exhibitor at Big 5 Construct Saudi 2026, scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 2, 2026, at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center, with a focus on the practical application of building codes and compliance requirements across Saudi Arabia.
As the Kingdom's construction sector continues to expand through major infrastructure and development projects, the effective implementation of building codes, standards and regulations is becoming increasingly important for delivering safe, resilient and compliant buildings and infrastructure.
Through its participation at the exhibition, ICC will engage with construction and engineering professionals on the regulatory landscape and provide practical guidance on navigating the requirements of the Saudi Building Code (SBC).
Three-part programme to focus on code compliance
As part of its participation, ICC will host a dedicated three-part programme covering the future of code compliance, key Saudi Building Code requirements and the practical application of codes across the Kingdom.
The programme will take place on August 31 at the Big 5 Talks Theatre in Hall 1 and will begin with a keynote address by Dr. Fahad Saud Allahaim, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Residential Building Code at the Saudi Building Code National Committee and Assistant Professor at King Saud University.
His session will examine the role of the Saudi Building Code in improving safety, quality and project outcomes across Saudi Arabia.
The keynote will be followed by the workshop "Navigating the Saudi Building Code: Key Requirements and Compliance Pathways." Led by Tom Wood, Regional Director at Vortex Fire, and Kareem Morsi, Senior Fire Engineer at Vortex Fire, the workshop will provide practical guidance on the structure of the SBC, key provisions of SBC 201 and the compliance pathways available to industry professionals.
Interactive Q&A to address project challenges
The programme will conclude with "Applying the Saudi Building Code: Q&A," an interactive session moderated by Mohamed Amer, Managing Director – MENA, International Code Council, alongside Dr. Fahad Saud Allahaim and Kareem Morsi.
The session will allow attendees to raise questions, discuss project-specific challenges and gain expert perspectives on applying Saudi Building Code requirements in real-world projects.
Mohamed Amer said that understanding and effectively applying codes and standards will be critical as Saudi Arabia's construction sector continues to develop.
He added that Big 5 Construct Saudi provides an important platform for industry experts and practitioners to discuss compliance and that ICC's three-part programme is intended to provide practical insights that professionals can apply to projects across the Kingdom.
