Morocco regions ground facility permit for 15 airports received by swissport

For 15 airports in Morocco, Swissport International won a permit for ground facilities. The new permit will be legitimate for the period of seven years from 1 October 2019.

The global tender for airport ground handling services of the Moroccan airport operator ONDA has issued Swissport International a Licence for 15 airports. This new permit is valid for seven years for the Airports of Agadir, Al Hoceima, Oujda, Ouvda, Rabat, Tangier and Ttouan, Casablanca, Dakhla, Errachide, Essaouira, Fs, Layoune, Marrakech. Swissport was granted the permit for two out of fourlots (parts 2 and 3) and won against about six contender.

For instance, in 2021 Swissport will transform most of its ground support equipment to electric propulsion in Marrakech airport. Under the new concessions, Swissport altogether will contribute in the overall renovation of its baggage cart facilities, tractor towed aircraft and cargo loaders for a total of over US$ 20.7 million (Moroccan dirham).

Swissport lately reported its aspiration to expand its worldwide fleet share of electrical cars to at least 50% by 2025.

Swissport serves a total of 22 airline clients in Morocco, such as Air Arabia, Air Canada, British Airways, Easyject, Lufthansa, Ryanair, and TAP Air Portugal, it is the second biggest airport ground service provider after local Royal Air Maroc.

Swissport retains so-called Fixed Base Operations (FBO) for business and executive clients in four Morocca airports in relation to its general airport ground services company. Casablanca, Marrakesh, Rabat and Tangier are among these.

In 2016 Swissport opened in Casablanca, a brand new centralized load control (CLC) office, and extremely skilled experts generate so-called load sheets on multiple airlines. Swissport's involvement in Morocco is further strengthened. A load sheet for every crew is a fundamental document and an important condition for getting prepared for departure. For each airplane supporting flight crews, the cargo control teams calculate weight and equilibrium and the trim for the safe and efficient operation of their flight.

Swissport received a five-year agreement recently from Swiss Air Lines covering charging services to its CLC centre in Casablanca for the entire continent in Europe (excluding outbound flights from Zurich and Geneva).
