HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed an international delegation of Siemens, including its key clients, at the M Station in Jebel Ali Power Station as part of its efforts to strengthen cooperation with international organisations and further enhance the efficiency of its operations. The delegation looked to learn from DEWAs best practices in power station management and water desalination operations. Al Tayer also took part in the Siemens Directors Clubs gala dinner held yesterday at Burj Khalifa.

Thank you for this opportunity to address you all today here at Jebel Ali Power Station. It is power plants such as these that enable DEWA to provide Dubai with a very reliable, efficient and high quality electricity and water supply, which contributed to the victory of Dubai hosting World Expo 2020, said HE Al Tayer.

I would like to mention one of the power stations here in particular. Our newest, M-Station, is the largest of its kind in the UAE and also the most advanced and efficient of its kind. It has a plant thermal efficiency of 85%, generates over 2,000 MW of electricity and 140 million imperial gallons of water per day and emits less than 25 parts per million of nitrogen dioxide, at a total project value exceeding AED 10 billion. The future holds further expansion, with M-Station undergoing a 600 MW expansion to eventually produce over 2,600 MW by 2018, added Al Tayer.

We must highlight the importance of DEWA and Siemens developing closer ties, as the private sector plays a vital role in achieving Dubais smart objectives and promoting innovation. This will benefit the community at large, added Al Tayer.

Al Tayer said that DEWA looks to strengthen closer cooperation with Siemens, one of the worlds leading energy companies, in various sectors including power-generation technology, clean coal, solar energy, energy solutions and gas turbines.

The Siemens delegation toured the M, L2 and G stations, with DEWA executives providing an overview of its operations, the focus on enhancing efficiency and the positive impact of the plant on the environment.

DEWA expanded its partnership with Siemens in 2008 by signing a strategic maintenance agreement for power generation and desalination equipment at its L2 station. In 2005, the strategic agreement was extended to cover M-Station.

The Siemens delegation thanked the MD & CEO of DEWA for the warm welcome and the opportunity to study the projects on which Siemens is working in partnership with DEWA.
