MBRF & UNDP to host 4th Arab Knowledge Report workshop in London focused on youth education & employment

Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) in cooperation with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will organise in London the fourth of a series of the Arab Knowledge Report workshops that will focus on education and employment opportunities for youth in the Arab world. The workshop will also shed light on the outcome of the third Arab Knowledge Report on Youth and Localisation of Knowledge.

The workshops, which are being held in leading Arab and international capitals, are also aimed at contributing to MBRFs preparations for the second edition of its Knowledge Conference 2015. The latest workshop will be held at St. Anthonys College in University of Oxford, London, on September 3, with the participation of academics and specialists in the field of knowledge as well as a number of university students. It will play an important role in the creation of an Arab Knowledge Index through knowledge measurement and identify the main challenges in the process.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of MBRF, said the workshop will contribute to MBRFs preparations for the second Knowledge Conference which will be held later this year. The workshops will also provide the opportunity for team efforts on the Arab Knowledge Report and the Arab Knowledge Index, and help understand the best practices and methodologies in generating accurate results for the index. These efforts will enable Arab societies to identify clearly the real challenges facing knowledge production and find effective solutions to address them.

He added: The workshops organised by the Foundation are part of our plans to contribute to sustainable development of Arab societies through localisation and transfer of knowledge. The latest workshop in London follows those held in Jordan, New York and Paris which helped highlight the best international practices in the field of knowledge, education and employment.

The third Arab Knowledge Report highlights the effective integration of youth in the transfer and localisation of knowledge as one of the most pressing issue facing Arab societies. The report explores the current status of Arab youth in relation to skills and values required for the effective integration of knowledge and their contribution in cultural, political and social arenas.
