Legislation of the Future workshop held as part of Legislative Week

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 13 February 2019: The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC), organized a workshop titled the Legislation of the Future, on the final day of the Legislative Week. The workshop was organized in line with the SLCs efforts to spread legal knowledge through exchanging ideas and supporting the aspirations of youth, believing in their active role in laying the foundations for the future.

The workshop brought together a large number of government officials, SLC General Secretariat staff, and young legal practitioners working in Dubai government entities to discuss the most important factors in building a promising legislative future while enhancing Dubais competitiveness as a city of the future. The discussions focused on providing the youth with opportunities to express their opinions, to explore the prospects of the legislative future of Dubai, and to strengthen and integrate the efforts of legal practitioners and specialists to ensure balanced, sustainable, transparent and fair government legislation that supports the objectives of the Dubai Plan 2021. These efforts will contribute to the achievement of the wise leaderships vision to build a visionary government capable of anticipating the future.

H.E. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, SLC Secretary General, stated that the Legislation of the Future workshop marks a major stride in our efforts aimed at building and anticipating the future, by establishing the strong legal and legislative foundations needed to transform Dubai into one of the most future-oriented and best cities in the world. The initiative reflects our keenness to drive integration and coordination with Dubai government entities, in order to promote the spirit of leadership among legal practitioners. This requires an emphasis on the role of youth in updating legislation that supports government excellence in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to mobilize the potential of youth to drive and empower governments of the future."
