H.E. Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita Visits Tadweer Facility to Highlight Dubai’s Progress in Waste Management and Circular Economy
His Excellency Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, visited Tadweer, one of Dubai’s most advanced waste management facilities, as part of the emirate’s continued push to champion sustainability, the circular economy, and zero-waste objectives. The visit reflects Dubai’s commitment to achieving its Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2021–2041 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
Accompanied by a senior delegation, H.E. Eng. bin Ghalita was welcomed by Eng. Faris Saeed, CEO of Tadweer and Chairman of SEE Holding, along with members of the executive leadership team. During a detailed tour, the delegation was introduced to the facility’s integrated waste processing systems, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative approaches to resource recovery.

Biogas Pilot Facility:
The tour included a stop at Tadweer’s pilot biogas unit, which demonstrates how organic waste can be converted into renewable energy, aligning with the UAE’s clean energy and resource efficiency targets.

Technological Advancements:
The delegation was briefed on Tadweer’s smart sorting and recycling systems, which enhance the overall efficiency of Dubai’s waste collection and treatment.

Sustainability in Action:
Tadweer has diverted over 5.2 million tons of waste from landfills and produced more than 90,000 tons of organic compost, supporting agriculture and green spaces throughout Dubai.

Environmental Awareness:
Tadweer also plays a pivotal role in education, having conducted 1,200+ awareness programs that have reached over 30,000 students across the UAE to foster environmental stewardship in future generations.
