Hamdan Foundation forum highlights best practices in educational excellence

Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences organised a forum at Etihad Museum in Dubai to share best practices in applying the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model and discuss approaches to strengthening institutional performance.

The “Best Practices Forum in the Hamdan EFQM Model” brought together representatives from EFQM, education leaders and practitioners to exchange practical experiences in institutional excellence and explore ways to embed continuous improvement across educational institutions.

The forum focused on how institutions can translate assessment findings into clear priorities, stronger practices and improved educational outcomes.

Focus on continuous improvement

H.E. Dr Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, said institutional excellence should extend beyond the outcome of an individual assessment.

“Institutional excellence in education is not defined by the outcome of a single assessment, but by an institution’s ability to transform assessment into organisational knowledge, actionable decisions and continuous improvement,” he said.

Al Suwaidi said the Hamdan EFQM Model provides educational institutions with a structured framework to understand performance, identify priorities and connect ambitions with actions and outcomes.

He also highlighted the importance of sharing successful practices between institutions so that effective approaches can be adapted and applied more widely.

“The importance of this forum lies in bringing practitioners together around real experiences and examining the elements behind their success,” he said, adding that this can strengthen institutional learning and make continuous improvement part of the everyday culture of schools and educational institutions.

Education leaders share practical experiences

The forum included a presentation on the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model and its role in supporting institutional excellence. Hani Shaqlusi, Head of Service Delivery, Middle East, EFQM, also addressed the role of excellence models in improving institutional performance.

A panel discussion titled “Distinguished Experiences and Practices in Implementing the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model” provided an opportunity for education professionals to discuss their experiences with applying the model.

The session was moderated by Dr Rashid Muslim Al-Riyami and featured Fahad Mousa Hassan from Qatar Science and Technology School, Salama Khalfan Obaid Al Mazrouei from Qatr Al Nada School for Basic and Secondary Education, and Jamila Ahmed Jamei Al Hindasi, Director of Zayed Educational Complex – Dibba Al Fujairah.

The participants discussed practical approaches to implementing the model and how successful institutional practices can contribute to improved educational and organisational performance.

Hamdan EFQM Model supports education institutions

The Foundation also recognised the forum's guests and participating speakers for their contributions to the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

The event concluded with an open question-and-answer session, allowing attendees to discuss practical aspects of institutional excellence and continuous improvement with the speakers.

The Hamdan EFQM Educational Model was developed through a partnership between Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences and EFQM. It is designed specifically for the education sector and provides institutions with a structured framework for assessing performance, identifying priorities and embedding continuous improvement.
