Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center honours winners of Martyrs Day contest

The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) honoured the winners of the Martyrs Day contest organised recently by the Center with the participation of three prominent schools in Dubai - Al Ittihad Private School -Al Mamzar; Dubai National School - Al Barsha; and Dubai National School Al Twar.
The felicitation ceremony took place at Dubai International Writers' Centre, located in the Al Shindagha Historical Neighbourhood, and was attended by several high-profile personalities including H.E. Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, CEO of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, along with a number of well-known poets.

The event kicked off with an inspirational performance of the UAE national anthem followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Amina Al Dhaheri, Director of Research and Studies at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center. Poets present at the ceremony read poems and verses that paid homage to the patriotism of the martyrs and their courage in defending their homeland, while emphasising how proud the nation was of them.

Commenting on the contest, Dr. Amina Al Dhaheri said: This contest aimed to familiarise the younger generation with the concept of martyr and the relevance of martyrdom, and more importantly, to enable them to better appreciate the sacrifices made by citizens who suffered and died for the progress and welfare of our country. The contest comprised of two categories, drawings and essays, where students were invited to express their thoughts on what it meant to be a martyr.

She added: The Martyrs Day contest received tremendous response from the students, and entries were evaluated by a specialised judging committee.
At the end of the ceremony, H.E. Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook awarded prizes to the first three winners of each category. He also honoured the poets present at the ceremony as well as the schools that participated in the contest.
