Emirati women are playing an increasingly significant role in the development of the UAE’s tax system, with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) highlighting their growing participation across specialised, professional, supervisory and leadership positions.
Speaking on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, observed annually on August 28, FTA Director General Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla said the Authority remains committed to empowering Emirati women and providing them with opportunities to contribute to the UAE’s national development.
This year’s Emirati Women’s Day is being celebrated under the theme “We Emerge Stronger and Better”, with a month-long national programme recognising the achievements and contributions of Emirati women.
Emirati Women Make Up 93% of Young Female Employees
According to the FTA, Emirati women account for 87% of its total female workforce, with 407 Emirati women currently employed across the Authority.
Of this number, 332, or 82%, are young Emirati women, representing more than 93% of all young female employees at the FTA.
The figures highlight the Authority’s efforts to create opportunities for Emirati women to develop their careers and contribute their expertise to the UAE’s tax sector.
Women Account for More Than Half of FTA Workforce
Women currently represent 51% of the FTA’s overall workforce, exceeding half of the Authority’s total employees.
The FTA has also appointed 50 Emirati women so far in 2026, accounting for 50% of all new appointments during the year.
Al Mulla said maintaining gender balance across the Authority’s organisational structure remains a key component of its approach to supporting societal integration and professional development.
Emirati Women in Leadership and Decision-Making
The FTA said Emirati women are represented across various levels of its organisational structure, including specialised, professional and leadership roles.
The Authority currently has 330 Emirati women in specialised and professional positions, while 60 hold executive positions and 13 occupy supervisory and leadership roles.
Their participation extends to decision-making across the Authority and forms part of the FTA’s efforts to strengthen the contribution of Emirati women to the UAE’s social, economic and national development.
Al Mulla said women’s empowerment at the FTA is not viewed as a standalone initiative but as an established approach inspired by the UAE’s leadership. He emphasised the importance of providing women with opportunities to lead, innovate and contribute to shaping the future.
Month-Long Programme to Celebrate Emirati Women
The FTA Women’s Committee has launched a comprehensive programme of initiatives and activities running from August 28 to September 28, 2026, to mark Emirati Women’s Day.
The programme will involve female employees from across the FTA and highlight the achievements of successful Emirati women working in the UAE’s tax sector.
The activities will showcase their contributions across a range of professional fields while recognising the role they have played in the continued development of the country’s tax system.
FTA Focuses on Talent Development
The Federal Tax Authority has positioned itself as a government entity focused on attracting, developing and retaining Emirati female talent.
The Authority said it continues to provide opportunities for professional growth and advancement into senior positions through a supportive working environment designed to nurture talent and encourage greater participation.
The FTA described Emirati Women’s Day as an opportunity to recognise the achievements of UAE women while encouraging their continued participation in the country’s development and prosperity.
The Authority said its ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s participation are aligned with the broader objective of supporting the UAE’s continued progress and global competitiveness across multiple fields.
