Etihad Rail Transports Over 350 Passengers Amid Regional Travel Disruptions
In a significant display of operational readiness, Etihad Rail, under the direct supervision of the Abu Dhabi Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre, successfully transported more than 350 passengers between Al Ghuwaifat Station and Al Faya Station amid widespread regional travel disruptions.
The exceptional operation was conducted as part of the UAE’s coordinated national response following the temporary suspension of several flight services due to ongoing regional developments. The special train services, launched prior to the official start of Etihad Rail’s passenger operations, ensured the safe and efficient transfer of travelers in cooperation with relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Authorities emphasized that the process adhered to the highest standards of safety and operational discipline. Approved emergency protocols were activated immediately, and all necessary technical and human resources were mobilized to maintain smooth continuity of operations.
Freight services across the national railway network continued uninterrupted, ensuring that logistical activities remained fully aligned with official directives.
Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, stated that the initiative underscores the UAE’s swift response capability and the strategic significance of its national railway network. “This operation highlights our institutional flexibility and ability to redeploy national resources efficiently, ensuring the stability of residents while maintaining long-term logistical security,” he said.
Eng. Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, commended the dedication and agility of the workforce, noting that the operation reflects the railway’s technical readiness and commitment to supporting national efforts during exceptional circumstances.
“We are proud to have delivered these passenger services in line with our leadership’s directives,” Al Shehhi said. “This demonstrates our ability to adapt rapidly and maintain service continuity without affecting other freight operations. Additional services have been scheduled as required and will continue in coordination with the competent authorities until air travel fully resumes.”
The initiative reinforces the UAE’s integrated crisis management strategy and showcases the adaptability and efficiency of its evolving transport infrastructure.
