Dubai RTA Introduces Smart Platform to Monitor Real-Time Traffic and Cut Delays

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new smart platform designed to monitor and analyse real-time and historical traffic data, aiming to reduce congestion and improve road efficiency across the emirate.

The digital platform, called Data Drive – Clear Guide, will allow RTA teams to instantly assess road conditions, track traffic flow, and pinpoint congestion points, traffic jams, and times of smooth flow. It combines five years of historical traffic information with live data to detect recurring patterns and identify critical road conditions.

Previously, traffic-related decision-making relied heavily on manually collected reports from consultants, field teams, or other sources. The new system automates the process, enabling faster and more accurate assessments.

One of the primary goals of the platform is to minimise delays by monitoring traffic diversions and incidents in real time. This will allow RTA teams to respond quickly and implement measures that keep traffic moving smoothly.

The platform also generates automated reports that evaluate traffic conditions before and after road works, helping the authority measure project effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.

Through an interactive map, RTA officers can view real-time road conditions and select specific areas for analysis based on indicators such as average speed, traffic density, and travel time.

Officials say the new technology represents a significant step toward smarter traffic management in Dubai, enhancing mobility and improving the driving experience for residents and visitors alike.
