Digital with a human touch: RAKBANK marks 50 years of people-centred banking

RAKBANK has marked its Golden Jubilee, reflecting on five decades of growth shaped by trust, long-term relationships and a consistent belief that banking should serve people first.

Since its establishment, the bank’s evolution has been guided by a customer-focused approach that has remained constant despite rapid technological change and shifting market demands. RAKBANK says its philosophy of being “Digital with a Human Touch” continues to underpin how it designs services, adopts technology and engages with customers across the UAE.

Over the years, the bank has invested in digital capabilities such as intelligent decision-making systems, AI-enabled customer support and streamlined banking journeys, while maintaining a strong emphasis on personal relationships. According to the bank, innovation has focused on making everyday banking simpler and more intuitive rather than adding complexity.

Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises has been a core pillar of RAKBANK’s strategy throughout its history. The bank has worked closely with entrepreneurs and business owners at various stages of growth, a commitment that was recognised when it was named Euromoney’s Best Bank for SMEs in the UAE. The award reflects RAKBANK’s relationship-led approach and its focus on practical solutions for businesses.

The same mindset has influenced the bank’s approach to innovation. RAKBANK recently became the first conventional bank in the UAE to introduce crypto trading within its mobile banking app, expanding digital options for customers while operating within the country’s regulatory framework.

RAKBANK also acknowledged the role of the UAE’s leadership in fostering an environment that encourages progress, stability and innovation, enabling financial institutions to contribute to national development and community growth.

Raheel Ahmed, Group CEO of RAKBANK, said the milestone reflects both the bank’s heritage and its future ambitions. “As we mark our Golden Jubilee, we reflect on five decades of building a strong and trusted franchise across the UAE. Our journey has always been rooted in relationships, service and a belief that banking should feel personal. This milestone honours the generations of colleagues and customers who shaped our story and reaffirms our commitment to creating long-term value for the communities we serve,” he said.

Throughout 2026, RAKBANK will celebrate its 50th anniversary under the theme “50 Years With You.” The year-long programme will include initiatives and engagements with customers, employees and communities across the UAE, highlighting the shared journey that has defined the bank’s first half-century and setting the direction for the years ahead.
