The Hussain Sajwani - DAMAC Foundation revealed the donation of Dh1 million to supply 125,000 meals to communities affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in the UAE, as part of the countrys largest food distribution drive.

The 10 million meals campaign, launched on Sunday, allows people and establishments to make economic and in-kind donations towards offering food or meals parcels to low-income people and families throughout the country during the holy month of Ramadan.

Within the first days of its launch, the campaign attracted several donations from distinctive segments of the society.

Hussain Sajwani, Founder and Chairman of DAMAC Properties, said, its an honor for each and every entity and organization to help the 10 million meals campaign as it serves the noble cause of beating hunger. The campaign presents a fundamental life necessity that brings a feel of safety and reassurance to people dealing with the most unsure times.

Sajwani stated that involving all echelons of the UAE society from organizations and institutions to the common public, promotes social team spirit and concord and presents means for everyone to lend a supporting hand while they remain secure at home.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled on Sunday the launch of the 10 million meals campaign to provide meals support to families and people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic that left many dealing with unemployment and income reductions.

The campaign will be led with the aid of his spouse Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of UAE Food Bank.

The overarching Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) will oversee the 10 million meals campaign in collaboration with the Social Solidarity Fund Against Covid-19.

Individuals and entities can make economic or in-kind donations to provide food help to people in want as part of the 10 million meals campaign.
