Abu Dhabi, UAE March 11, 2015:Local and international illustrators, calligraphers, animators and graphic and comic strip designers are set to captivate visitors in a unique Illustrators Corner experience at Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF).
ADIBF, celebrating its 25thSilver Jubilee edition between 7-13 May,2015 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) is organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).

Featuring six home-grown artists, and artisans from Indonesia, Germany, Lebanon, the Netherlands and Egypt among others, the Illustrators Corner is dedicated to presenting original art works by some of the literary worlds most creative minds, and will serve as a hub where artists can come together to showcase and launch their work.

Illustrators corner is one of Abu Dhabi International Book Fairs most popular zones, inspiring younger generations to read through exciting, creative and thought-provoking imagery. The 25 artists, illustrators, calligraphers, animators, graphic and comic strip designers will also be joined by a local art club from the Abu Dhabi-based Petroleum Institute who will display their talents in drawing, painting and crafts.
The artists will also have the opportunity to give presentations and talks to book fair visitors and publishing professionals about their passion and discuss future partnerships and collaborations in a series of daily interactive workshops, as well as having the chance to meet with other local and international artists.

Additional workshops on a number of topics and artistic style will run throughout the week-long Fair, and are designed to emphasise opportunities for younger children to express their creativity and ability in art, and to participate in hands-on activities. Emiriati artists Mariyam Al Hammadi,Arwa Alamoodi, SumaiaAlamoodi, AhlamAljaberi and Asma Al Romaithiwill be joined by UAE-based Ruth Burrows, DiaaAllam, Ahmed Altattan and Liz Ramos-Prado to showcase a range of childrens and graphic arts illustrations.

The Illustrators Corner series of workshops and presentations by international artists will blend latest trends in animation and traditional art methods.
OllipekkaKangas, an expert in using computers, iPads, technology and new media, and Master of Arts and Educationfrom the University of Turku in Finland, will introduce the evolving concept of Stop Motion Animation- a technique used to make physically manipulated animated objects appear to move on their own- as a creative way to learn and tell stories.

Vahid M. Jazayerian established calligrapher, researcher, graphic designer, and expert in early Arabic Kufic script will demonstrate how to recreate the art of Arabic lettering in books and computer fonts,adapting ancient Arabic calligraphy to typeface design.
Award-winning Indonesian artist Tommy Thomdean, a cartoonist for The Jakarta Post-Sunday edition, willdemonstrate how cartoons and illustrations have the ability to pass language barriers and reflect culture.
In association with the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region and UAEBBY, German freelance comic artist and illustratorSaschaHommer will deliver a presentation on Comics and Graphic Novels in Germany,providing insight into the world of contemporary German comics and graphic novels, a sector which features many promising young artists in the field.The overview will be followed by the presentation of some samples from young Emirati comic artists that have been created, under Hommers guidance, in a Goethe-Institut comic workshop. The sessions will be open to all and will be followed by a question and answer session.

The regions fastest growing book fair, ADIBF attracted 1,125 publishing houses last year with more than 100 authors participating in its seminars and discussions. Almost 250,000 people visited ADIBF 2014 and sales grew to AED 35 million.
ADIBF was launched by the late Sheikh Zayed in 1981 under the designation of the Islamic Book Fair, which in 1986 became the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
