Baby Girl Born At 22 Weeks, Weighing 600 Grams, now Thriving and Growing Every Day

A baby girl born at only 22 weeks to Kuwaiti parents, that remained in the UAE on a short break, is now showing favorable signs of development and becoming much healthier each day.

Child Noura was classed as a very preterm child when she was born at Zulekha hospital Sharjah, weighing only 600 grams - less than a litre of water. Three months on from her premature birth on 30 January, she currently considers simply over 1.5 kilos and is making steady development.

Her birth was triggered by an urine infection in her mother, which saw her admitted to the hospital during their short getaway from Kuwait. Dr Nada Elsheikh, Professional Gynaecologist and Dr Mohammad Nabeel Khalaf, Specialist Neonatologist were on-hand at the Sharjah branch and responsible for the secure delivery of the holiday-makers' kid.

Dr Khalaf claimed: "The first few days of a preterm's life are vital for its survival. Standard care such as heat along with treatment for infections and breathing were given in order to increase the infant's possibilities.

" The infant was placed a special breathing maker which enables an extremely gentle and fast air movement in order to protect her lungs.

" On top of this, we had to make sure the child was handled in an extremely mild fashion
pertaining to all elements of his treatment. This was because of her fragility and the very high risk of developing intracranial bleeding or pneumothorax (collapsed lung).".

Obtaining round-the- clock care from the experts in the Zulekha Medical facility Sharjah Neo-Natal Critical care unit (NICU), the group are now making prep works for infant Noura to return home.

Included Dr Khalaf: "The baby has been doing well and has had no major complications. Although it is still too early to anticipate for certain, chances are she can live a typical life." With a high mortality price connected with very preterm births, The World Health Organisation approximates that 75% of fatalities related early births might be removed with cost-effect interventions.
