Atlas 900, the world's fastest AI training cluster, was launched by Huawei.

Huawei declared their computing market strategy and launched Atlas 900, the quickest AI training cluster in the world at HUAWEI CONNECT 2019. The AI Computing powerhouse, Atlas 900 will help create AI more promptly accessible in various areas of logical research and company development.

Ken Hu, Huawei's Deputy Chairman, said "The computing future is a large market of over two trillion US dollars. We're going to continue to invest in a four-field strategy that focuses on architecture boundaries, invest in processors for each scenario, maintain clear business boundaries and construct an open ecosystem."

Huawei's computing strategy

The computing approach of the industry evolves from rules-based to statistical models that form the basis of machine learning. Huawei estimates that statistical computing will be mainstream in the next five years and AI computing accounts for more than 80% of the world's computer power.

To carve out a place in this market, Huawei's strategy will focus on four key areas:

Architecture innovation. The innovative processor architecture (Da Vinci architecture) designed last year to offer steady and plentiful supplies of affordable computing power, was introduced by Huawei. In fundamental research, Huawei will continue to invest.

Investment in all-scenario processors. Huawei has a full lineup of processors: Kunpeng general purpose computing processors, Ascend AI processors, Kirin processors for smart devices, and Honghu smart screens processors.

Clear business boundaries. Huawei will not directly sell its manufacturers. Instead, it will give priority to support for embedded solutions, providing its clients in the form of cloud services and to its partners in the form of components.

Building an open ecosystem. Huawei will spend more than $1.5 billion in its developer program over the next five years. The objective of the program is to increase the assistance for five million developers and make the future generation of smart apps and solutions possible for Huawei's global partners.

Atlas 900, the world's fastest AI training cluster

Expanding on Huawei's specialized technical strength over the last 10 years, Atlas 900 consolidates the vitality of the thousands of processors from Ascend. The ResNet-50, the golden standard for assessing AI training efficiency, requires Atlas 900 59.8 seconds. It's 10 seconds speedier than the world record previously.

Atlas 900 is an AI computing powerhouse and will carry new conceivable range of new opportunities to various areas of science research and enterprise innovation anything from astronomy, climate and autonomy, to petroleum explorations. Huawei also used Atlas 900 as a cluster service to enable its clients across distinct sectors to access exceptional computing capacity. Huawei has offered these services at an incredible rebate to universities and research institutes throughout the world.

This year's event was also marked with Gao Wen, a Chinese Engineering Academy member and Peng Cheng Lab director. He shared Peng Cheng Lab's mission and vision and how the organisation works with Huawei to develop China's first evolving, exascale computer-based AI supercomputing system. Both businesses will work together to create new AI fundamental research and development.

Zheng Yelai, president of Cloud BU Huawei, discussed how indifferent scenarios could be applied to AI. Based on Huawei's experience of more than 500 projects across 10 branches, Zheng pointed out that AI is crossing the business gap and becoming the main driver of digital transformation in businesses.

"This is a new era of exploration," said Ken Hu. "What is waiting is a boundless ocean of potential, but just a ship is going to not cut it off. Today we are setting off a thousand boats. How about we cooperate, hold onto this notable chance, and advance insight higher than ever."

HUAWEI CONNECT 2019 is a yearly leader occasion facilitated by Huawei for the worldwide ICT industry, and is held in Shanghai from September 18 to 20, 2019. The current year's Conference is themed on "Advance Intelligence" and intends to build up an open, agreeable, and shared stage for clients and accomplices to investigate new open doors for a keen future.
