Abu Dhabi to Host Inaugural Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS 2025)
Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, Abu Dhabi is set to host the first-ever Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS 2025) on May 5–6 at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.
Organised by the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) in strategic collaboration with the UAE Public Prosecution, the summit aims to develop global frameworks that responsibly govern fast-evolving technologies such as AI, quantum computing, and Web3.
A Global Platform for Ethical Tech Governance
Bringing together over 500 international leaders from government, industry, academia, and civil society, GETS 2025 seeks to create an inclusive dialogue on how to balance technological innovation with societal protections and justice.
“Innovation without ambitious governance lacks sustainability,” stated H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs and Secretary General of ATRC. “Through GETS 2025, the UAE reaffirms its belief in ethical, inclusive policies to build global trust and drive progress.”
H.E. Chancellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, highlighted the judiciary’s role in tech governance:
“We must construct a smart judicial system that protects rights in the digital age. This summit is a critical step in shaping responsive legislation and innovative governance.”
H.E. Dr Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, emphasized the role of youth in driving responsible innovation:
“Our youth must be at the forefront of designing the ethical framework for our digital future.”
