In 1H 2019, Kingston Technology ships 13.3 million SSDs

Kingston Digital Europe Co LLP, a global leader in memory products and technology solutions, announced today that it has shipped 13.3 million SSTs in the first half of 2019, according to data from TrendFocus. Kingston is the world's third-largest SSDs supplier behind semiconductor manufacturers Samsung and Western Digital, as the world's leading third-party SSD manufacturer, it shows its strength and position in the market place. Kingston's total is 11.3 percent of all SSDs shipped worldwide in the first half of this year.

TrendFocus's research shows continued growth in total SSD exports for all categories this year, said Dan Jeanette, Vice President of TrendFocus. Our research has found the bulk of units sent by client SSDs, while NVM PCIe has seen gains due to demand in hyperscale environments. The story of the first half of 2019 is that NAND exports are on the rise, with pricing declining, thus increasing SSD demand.

TrendFocuss findings confirm the overall size of Kingston and the importance of the industry as an independent SSD supplier, said Tony Hollingsbee, EMEAs SST Business Manager. For 32 years, Kingston has been a stable and reliable manufacturer of high-performance memory solutions. Over the past decade, customers at all levels have embraced Kingston SSTs - from consumers wanting to quickly run their system to upgrading to SST to one of the world's largest data centers running cloud computing - Kingston is everywhere. It takes a whole team to accomplish this and we share our success with our partners, vendors and customers.

As stated by TrendFocus, Kingston's position in the 2.5 form factor client-drive space is unequal, as it leads all manufacturers to a significant 27.3% market share. On October 21, the company will be releasing the next-generation KC600 SATA 2.5 Client SSD. That driver currently joins the Shipping UV500 SADA and Casey KC2000 and A2000 PCIe NVMe SSDs, making it a set of DCG Opel 2.0 compatible high performance storage solutions. In a world where cyber attacks and data breaches are all too common, 256-bit AES hardware-encrypted SSDs may be part of a security strategy for consumers and corporate customers.

In addition to the client sector, Kingston Enterprise SSD is fast becoming a force in the market. Later this year, Kingston with its DC1000M U.2 NVMe SSD in its portfolio will require higher performance and IOPS for data centers and workstations. This driver will join the data center family of enterprise SSDs, focusing on read-intensive and mixed-workload server environments for companies that require predictable quality service (QoS) and performance stability.
