UAE National Day: Ultimate Guide to Celebrating Eid Al Etihad

As the UAE’s 54th National Day approaches, the country is gearing up for grand celebrations under the new name Eid Al Etihad — a commemoration of unity, pride, and national heritage. From dazzling fireworks and parades to cultural shows and shopping festivals, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a long weekend filled with festivities across all seven emirates.

A Celebration of Unity
Eid Al Etihad marks December 2, 1971, the historic day when the seven emirates united under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding the United Arab Emirates. The event is not only a tribute to the nation’s journey of growth and innovation but also a celebration of its cultural diversity and shared identity.

Nationwide Ceremonies and Parades
The official celebrations, themed “United”, will take place across all emirates, with live ceremonies on December 2. Residents can join the festivities at venues such as Al Khawaneej, Dubai Festival City Mall, and Global Village.

In Dubai, the Eid Al Etihad 54 Parade will begin at City Walk on December 1 at 4 pm, featuring the Dubai Police Marching Band, horse-mounted officers, and students from the Police Academy. In Ras Al Khaimah, the Maritime Parade Celebrations at Al Qawasim Corniche will run from 4 pm to 11 pm. Sharjah will host community parades and heritage markets in Al Batayeh and Al Dhaid, complete with cultural performances and a “Union Bus” distributing gifts.

Live Concerts and Performances
Music lovers can catch Balqees performing at Dubai Festival City Mall on December 2, while Diana Haddad and Shamma Hamdan take the stage at City Walk on December 1 and 2. Khorfakkan Amphitheatre will host Hussain Al Jassmi and Fouad Abdelwahad on November 29 for a patriotic concert celebrating Emirati pride.

Spectacular Fireworks and Drone Shows
Fireworks are a highlight of the celebrations, with displays at Hatta, Souk Al Seef, Bluewaters, The Beach JBR, Dubai Festival City Mall, and Global Village. Drone shows themed around the UAE’s heritage will illuminate the skies at Global Village on December 1 and 2. In Abu Dhabi, Yas Bay Waterfront will feature two nights of fireworks on December 1 and 2.

Family Activities and Cultural Attractions
Families can explore special events in Sharjah’s Al Siyouh Family Park, Kshisha Park, and Sharjah National Park, offering children’s shows, youth panels, and traditional performances. In Dubai, City Centre Mirdif will host week-long workshops and fashion showcases, while Al Qana and Bawabat Al Sharq Mall in Abu Dhabi will present Emirati dance performances, falconry displays, and heritage crafts.

Shopping and Dining
The UAE’s famous 3-Day Super Sale returns as a 5-Day National Day Sale, from November 28 to December 2, offering up to 90% off across 2,000 stores. Kicking off with Dubai’s first-ever 24-hour sale at Dubai Festival City Mall, this event promises irresistible shopping deals.

Food lovers can indulge in a limited-edition Dubai Burger infused with Emirati flavours, or enjoy authentic meals at the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding. For dessert, chebab and basbusa at Al Samadi Sweets in Deira are local favourites.

Explore History and Heritage
Visitors can deepen their understanding of UAE culture by visiting Al Shindagha Museum, featuring the acclaimed “Dubai Creek: Birth of a City” multimedia exhibition, or exploring Saruq Al-Hadid Museum, which showcases artefacts from the region’s ancient past.

From glittering parades to immersive cultural experiences, Eid Al Etihad is the perfect time to celebrate the UAE’s journey — a proud reflection of its unity, progress, and shared future.
