Dubai Run 2025 sees thousands take over Sheikh Zayed Road on Sunday morning
Sheikh Zayed Road transformed into one of the world’s largest temporary running tracks on Sunday morning as thousands of residents and visitors participated in Dubai Run 2025, a flagship event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
Participants gathered before sunrise, filling the highway with a sea of blue T-shirts while aerial performers entertained crowds waiting for the event to begin. As the sun rose, runners started the 5km and 10km routes, moving past some of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks.
Authorities conducted a full security sweep before the run began, ensuring smooth movement across the course. Dubai Police, event volunteers, and transport personnel coordinated crowd control, safety checks, and route management throughout the morning.
Families, fitness enthusiasts, children, seniors, and first-time runners joined the event, with many carrying UAE flags and others adding fun to the experience through music, dance, and inflatable costumes. Several participants travelled from other emirates, while some international visitors took part for the first time.
Both routes—5km toward Downtown Dubai and 10km through the DIFC tunnel—were clearly guided by volunteers stationed at key intersections. Runners were encouraged by motivational messages, cheering teams, and well-placed signage.
A strong sustainability focus shaped the event, with recycling bins placed along the route and water bottles earmarked for responsible recycling.
As the last runners cleared the finish line, clean-up teams swiftly removed barricades and signage. Dubai Metro operated trains at frequent intervals to help participants return home.
By 10:30am, Sheikh Zayed Road had fully reopened to traffic, marking a seamless end to one of the most anticipated public fitness events in the UAE.
