Dubai and Abu Dhabi Shine in Global Rankings for Scenic Beauty and Nighttime Safety
The UAE's top cities continue to impress on the global stage, with Dubai ranked the third most scenic city in the world at night and Abu Dhabi following at 12th, according to a recent study by UK-based travel agency Travelbag. The report highlights the growing popularity of "noctourism" — travel experiences that take place after dark — and positions both cities as international benchmarks for nighttime beauty, safety, and urban lifestyle.
The rankings evaluated a variety of factors, including late-night venues, safety ratings, and pollution levels. Abu Dhabi emerged as the safest city in the world at night, while Dubai ranked among the top three for safety, reinforcing the UAE’s reputation for offering a secure and vibrant evening environment.

The rise of noctourism — especially in hotter climates — is shaping global travel trends, with Booking.com naming nighttime travel one of the top travel trends of 2025. Popular nocturnal activities include stargazing, moonlit desert safaris, night swimming, and exclusive night tours that capitalize on cooler temperatures and scenic urban illumination.
Dubai’s Nighttime Appeal:
From illuminated skyline tours to late-night desert safaris, Dubai has rapidly expanded its offerings to cater to after-dark explorers. Travelbag reported a 22% rise in searches for night desert safaris. In response to the intense daytime heat, Dubai Municipality has also introduced night swimming at three of its public beaches, encouraging residents and tourists to make the most of the cooler evening hours.
“With iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa lighting up the city skyline, and a commitment to safety and innovation, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are proving that some of the most memorable travel experiences happen after sunset,” the report noted.
This recognition further reinforces the UAE’s position as a world-class tourism destination, combining futuristic cityscapes with a commitment to comfort, safety, and year-round enjoyment — even after dark.
