7 Essential School Bus Safety Rules Issued by Dubai’s RTA Ahead of New Academic Year
As the new school year approaches, set to begin on August 25, 2025; Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has released a vital reminder to all school bus operators to adhere strictly to essential safety and comfort protocol.
Key safety directives include:
Strict traffic compliance - Drivers must follow all traffic laws, especially in and around school zones.
Avoid obstructing traffic - Bus operators must ensure that buses do not block other vehicles, helping ease congestion.
Mandatory training - Operators must deliver intensive training programs for both drivers and bus attendants under the RTA’s supervision.
Equipped for safety - Buses are required to be fitted with all necessary safety devices and measures.
Parent communication - Regular updates to parents are essential, assuring them of their children’s safety throughout the commute.
Safe driving practices - Drivers must prioritize student safety by driving cautiously.
Supervised drop-off - Bus attendants must escort students to the nearest safe point to their homes when dropping them off.
The RTA also emphasized that students themselves must follow the instructions of bus attendants when boarding and disembarking.
In conjunction, the Ministry of Interior has dubbed August 25, 2025, the new academic year's commencement, as "A Day Without Accidents." Motorists who pledge to abide by traffic rules and successfully avoid violations on that day can have four black points deducted electronically from their license by September 15, 2025, eliminating any need to visit service centers.
