UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention hosts training program for resuscitation of newly born babies

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, represented by the Training and Development Centre in Sharjah, just recently arranged the Newborn Life Support (NLS) program in cooperation with the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). NLS program will offer clear useful direction in resuscitation of babies at birth.

A group of worldwide fitness instructors from the Netherlands, Britain, Ireland, Egypt, and Sudan supplied training for the program which was held from October 9 to 14, 2016. The course was attended by more than 100 health care specialists, including pediatricians, neonatologists, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, nurses and specialists who work in the obstetrics department and handle child births.

H.E. Awad Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention's Support Services Sector, emphasized that the objective of organizing such programs is to raise the standard of health care services in the UAE. He said that such unique and internationally acknowledged health training programs help in improving the quality of services supplied to patients and at the same time upgrade health center infrastructure to be qualified for worldwide accreditation from companies such as Joint Commission International (JCI).

Saqr Ghanim Al Hemeiri, Director of the Training and Development Center, pointed out that the training program on the resuscitation of newborn babies is focused on attaining the objectives of the Center to broaden its series of training programs and to bring it at par with international standards. He said that the Center will continue to arrange a variety of program, including a software application for training the fitness instructors on contemporary methods of technical training, training using medical simulation, in order to fix up a cadre of staff of the ministry who has the ability to continue training on these advanced programs, and to preserve the sustainability of the training and knowledge transfer.
