Tawam Hospital, in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine and part of the SEHA healthcare system, today issued an open invitation to all Abu Dhabi residents to take part in the Tawam Challenge: Show you Care and Shave your Hair! happening on October 30, 2014 in the hospital grounds.

Launched for Abu Dhabi residents to help show how much the community cares about friends or family affected by breast cancer and to raise awareness, the Tawam Challenge: Show you Care and Shave your Hair! is open to all. The challenge team welcomes any participants brave enough to shave their hair and donate them in show of support for those affected by breast cancer.

As a pioneer in the Breast Cancer Awareness movement and as the leading oncology centre in the UAE, and a regional referral centre, Tawam Hospital aims to maintain a constant reputation for providing state-of-the-art breast cancer treatment and care. With our team and supported by Abu Dhabi residents, we will be able to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and treatment. This serves as catalyst for the Breast Cancer Awareness movement in our region, thanks to the able support of our team, said Gregory F. Schaffer, Tawam Hospital Chief Executive Officer.

A generous Thank you goes to Tawam Hospital for rallying our cause and supporting us in our endeavor. Tawam Hospital has been a staunch supporter of the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) since 1999 to this day. At FoCP, we call on Abu Dhabi residents to come and take part in this event to empathize with breast cancer patients and their struggle by donating their hair for this noble cause. Your compassion today will have a major impact on someones life tomorrow. All the donated hair will be collected by FoCP and made into wigs for cancer patients, said, Dr Sawsan Al Madhi, Secretary General of the Friends of Cancer Patients charity and Head of the Pink Caravans Medical and Awareness Committee.

The campaign is also supported by Radiance Beauty Center in Al Ain who donates their skills and time to cut participants hair.

Tawam Hospital is the main and the first oncology center in the UAE.
