Dubai, 28 March 2019: 2019 marks the Year of Tolerance throughout the UAE and in order to show their support, STS drivers and bus guardians came together to make a massive human mosaic at their annual Staff Appreciation Day.
This activity was organised to encourage peace and stability amongst employees and highlight the importance of people from all backgrounds and beliefs. The STS team is made up of an incredible 15 nationalities and 5 religions whom all came together to share and celebrate happiness.
Over 3,250 employees of School Transport Services met at GEMS Heritage School to be thanked for all their hard work over the past year. The highlight of the event was the 1,200-person formed human mosaic that demonstrated the organisation's ability to plan mass movement and bring everyone together in a year dedicated to tolerance. The formation of the UAE flag took was captured by an aerial camera. Brazilian carnival artists were first to take their position followed by Bus Guardians and completed with the Drivers wearing red, green, black and white t-shirts, which formed the UAE’s flag.
Other notable moments included all employees coming together to take the STS safety pledge by stamping their thumbprint on a dedicated poster, nearly the same size as a School Bus. This will always remind them to be live up to the STS values of Safe, Timely, Smart.
Employees also had the chance to take on their colleagues in inflatables games and enjoy live music. For the artistic employees, an ‘STS Got Talent’ style show had Drivers and Bus Guardians battling it out on stage with an ensemble of singing and dancing acts. The panel of judges included the company’s Managing Director, Steve Burnell. The winner was awarded AED 3,000.
Awards were also handed out to the employees whose hard work has helped to ensure that STS live to their values of Safe, Timely, Smart. Accolades for those who make this possible included Driver of the Year, Bus Guardian of the Year, Distinguished Service Award, People’s Choice Award and Safety Ambassador Award.
Established in 2008, STS now transports over 81,000 students to and from school each day. It holds a strong reputation for its quality in service and dedication to safety.
