Storyteller and Photojournalist Jeroen Swolfs Streets of the World comes to Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 23 January 2019: Canon Middle East supports Dutch photographer Jeroen Swolfs touring exhibit, Streets of the World through a unique photography showcase at one of Meraas newest destination, Al Seef. The longest photography exhibition in the world, the 1.8km-long exhibit comprises photographs that highlight daily life in 195 national capital cities from around the world.

Canon is the imaging and printing partner for the exhibition where all the photographs in the Streets of the World series have been captured on Canon cameras, and every individual exhibit in the Dubai edition has been printed with Canons award-winning digital printing solutions.

A long-time Canon super-user, Jeroen Swolfs has embarked on several adventures throughout the world, accompanied by the Canon EOS 5D Series, bringing his unique stories to life. Through his photos, Swolfs captures street-level views and scenes that represent a slice of life in those cities. It is, in a word, effective. Travelling to 195 countries and cities, I found exactly what I was hoping for when I started this project seven years ago: my fellow humans, he said.

The Canon EOS 5D Series offers a myriad of features and functions that have evolved dramatically over the years with the aim of supporting photographers with uncompromising image quality, superior build quality and high-speed performance. Image reproduction in stunning detail with class-leading color is made possible by Canons Arizona series of flatbed printers which are designed to ensure superior quality and impressive consistency.

Speaking about the event, Anurag Agrawal, Canon Middle Easts Managing Director, said: Canon is proud to be an enabler of creativity for this unique exhibition that brings streets of the world to life. We strive to support passionate artists in telling their stories and expressing themselves better through our technology. It is an honor to be part of Joroens seven yearlong photography journey, right from capturing the images to bringing these to life through beautiful prints at this exhibition. We hope to inspire professional and amateur photographers in Dubai, where different cultures gather from around the world, to explore visual storytelling and harness the power of imaging.

To commemorate the exhibits presence in Dubai between 20th January and 5th April 2019, Canon is also collaborating with the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) for a photography competition for UAE residents on the theme of Connecting Humanity, similar to the theme of the Streets of the World project. Winners of this competition, which saw amateur photographers from around the region submitting their own photos, were announced and awarded with Canon EOS M50 4K mirrorless cameras and Canon PIXMA TS5050 home multi-function printers at a gala event on 20th January. The prize-winning photographs will have the honor of joining Jeroen Swolfs work at the Streets of the World exhibition.

In addition to Canon, the Streets of the World exhibition is also supported by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), Meraas, Dubai Chamber, The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Awards (HIPA), Globally Connected Companies.
