Sheikh Mohammed Announces Formation of New UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade and Cabinet Restructuring

In a significant government restructuring move, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the formation of a new federal body – the Ministry of Foreign Trade – to bolster the nation’s global economic footprint.

The newly formed ministry will be led by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, who has been a key figure in shaping the UAE’s international trade strategy in recent years. The restructuring also includes the renaming of the current Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, reflecting the country’s dual emphasis on trade and tourism as pillars of national growth.

Alongside the formation of the new ministry, Sheikh Mohammed revealed that the National Artificial Intelligence System will be officially integrated into the UAE Cabinet as an advisory member.

“The goal is to support decision-making in these councils, conduct immediate analysis of their decisions, provide technical advice, and enhance the efficiency of government policies adopted by these councils across all sectors,” Sheikh Mohammed shared on X (formerly Twitter).

These announcements underscore the UAE’s continued commitment to innovation, digital governance, and economic diversification as it strengthens its role on the global stage.
