Authorities in Sharjah have announced an extension of free public parking across the emirate due to ongoing unstable weather conditions, offering relief to motorists navigating rain-affected roads.

The decision extends the parking fee exemption that was initially implemented on March 23, with officials confirming that it will remain in place until further notice.

According to the Sharjah City Municipality, the exemption applies to all public parking areas, including zones that are typically chargeable and marked by blue signage. However, smart parking yards are excluded from the waiver.

The move comes as the UAE continues to experience a week of unsettled weather, with rainfall, thunderstorms, and reduced visibility reported across multiple regions. Authorities have prioritised public safety, particularly as road conditions remain affected by water accumulation and low visibility.

Motorists have been urged to exercise caution while driving, especially in areas prone to flooding or congestion, and to stay updated with official advisories as weather conditions evolve.

Officials reiterated that further updates regarding parking regulations and safety measures will be announced depending on how the weather situation develops.
