OPPO signed a patent transfer agreement with Intel, Ericsson to enhance Global Business

OPPO, the leading global smart phone brand, recently consented a patent exchange agreement with Intel including the transfer of 58 patents in areas related to cellular mobile communications technology. Also, OPPO has purchased rights to over 500 patents from Ericsson, covering countries and regions including the US, Europe, China and India. Securing communications patents from Intel and Ericsson will serve to support OPPOs technological development capacity as the company develops its business in global markets.

As a leading global technology company, OPPO has invested intensely in cutting-edge communications technologies like 5G. As of 2019, OPPO has deployed 5G patents in more than 20 countries and regions around the world. Being one of the main contributors in the development of 5G standard, the company has filed more than 2,200 global patent families applications related to 5G technology and has submitted over 2,600 technical papers to 3GPP. As of July 2019, OPPO had uncovered more than 600 patent families to ETSI, further underscoring OPPOs strong standing in the 5G patent space.

Andy Shi, President, OPPO MEA, stated: We are glad to enter into agreements of this kind with Intel and Ericsson. The communications patents will enable us to concentrate on offering better products for our customers.

OPPO respects intellectual property rights and attaches tremendous importance to accumulating and holding patents. As of July 8, 2019, OPPO had filed more than 37,000 patent applications globally, over 31,000 (~85%) of which were invention patents, and had been granted more than 11,000 patents altogether.
