As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of political participation, the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs organized an awareness lecture for students of Zayed University in Dubai on the topic Culture of Political Participation.

Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, explained that the ministry is working on a variety of programmes aimed at implementing the vision of the countrys wise leadership to promote a culture of political participation in the community. The involvement of all segments of the society, especially university students, is critical to this process, H.E. Lootah said.

The UAE universities, led by Zayed University, have offered the best expertise to our sons and daughters to enable them to effectively contribute to the development process in a variety of fields, H.E. Lootah added.

H.E. Dr. Riad Muhaidib, Vice-President of Zayed University, spoke on the importance of the participation of universities in community initiatives to promote the culture of political participation.

Such efforts will help achieve the vision of the countrys leadership that gives priority to the development of citizens through delivery of highest level of services at all levels, in sectors such as education, health, and housing. These initiatives will help strengthen the sense of citizenship and loyalty to the country, Dr. Muhaidib added.

Stating that university students formed one of the most important segments of the society, Dr. Saeed Mohammad Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs, said: Positive interaction by university students in the awareness lectures organized by the ministry reflects the growth of political awareness among the students and their ability to contribute effectively to key issues.

During the lecture, Dr. Al Ghafli stressed the significance of political participation in maintaining the rights and freedom of the people and helping convey their aspirations and needs to the government. It is therefore key to achieving political stability and peace in the community, Dr. Al Ghafli added.

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs organizes a series of lectures directed at all segments of society, especially youth and women to enhance their awareness about the role of the Federal National Council, and to promote a culture of political participation to achieve the overall development of the UAE community.
