Majra Hosts Impact Investment Lab at Investopia Bridge 2026 to Mobilise Sustainable Capital
Majra – National CSR Fund has convened an Impact Investment Lab at the fifth edition of Investopia Bridge 2026, bringing together key stakeholders to identify practical ways to channel capital towards investments delivering measurable economic, social and environmental impact in the UAE.
The event was inaugurated by His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of Majra’s Board of Trustees. As a strategic partner of Investopia, Majra is using the platform to connect policymakers, investors and business leaders and develop practical approaches to strengthening the country’s impact investment ecosystem.
Closed-Door Session Examines Investment Barriers
The Impact Investment Lab featured a closed-door working session focused on identifying gaps that may be limiting the flow of capital into impact-driven investments.
Discussions covered six priority areas: barriers to deploying impact capital; definitions, taxonomy and disclosure; risk-sharing mechanisms and blended finance; governance and market credibility; priority sectors and investment opportunities; and potential next steps towards a federal impact investment framework.
The session was designed as a diagnostic working exercise rather than a conventional conference discussion. Facilitated roundtables encouraged participants to assess existing approaches, identify gaps and explore opportunities for stronger coordination across the investment ecosystem.
Majra Calls for Clarity and Collaboration
Sarah Shaw, CEO of Majra – National CSR Fund, said unlocking the potential of impact investment requires clear standards, credible mechanisms and cooperation among stakeholders.
“Impact investment has the potential to mobilise capital towards some of our most important economic, social and environmental priorities, but unlocking that potential requires more than ambition. It requires clarity, credibility and collaboration across the ecosystem,” Shaw said.
She added that the Lab aims to identify practical barriers and bring relevant stakeholders together to develop recommendations that could support greater investment activity and measurable, sustainable impact.
Federal Framework Among Key Discussion Areas
Participants also explored the potential role of a federal impact investment framework in improving consistency and coordination across the market.
The discussions considered how a common approach could strengthen investor confidence and market credibility while addressing the practical requirements of investors and organisations seeking to deploy impact capital.
The initiative forms part of Majra’s broader efforts to identify market needs, encourage collaboration and translate stakeholder dialogue into actionable recommendations.
Outcomes to Inform Future Engagement
The findings from the Impact Investment Lab will inform Majra’s continued engagement with stakeholders across the UAE’s impact investment ecosystem.
The focus will be on developing practical recommendations, strengthening collaboration and supporting conditions that enable capital to be deployed more effectively towards credible, measurable outcomes. The initiative also aims to advance national priorities by encouraging solutions that contribute to long-term sustainable value.
