KnowBe4 Releases Free Cybersecurity Awareness Month Resource Kit

KnowBe4 has launched its free Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2026 Resource Kit, offering organizations an interactive “Secret Agent” themed campaign designed to help employees recognize and respond to evolving cyber threats.

The campaign places employees in the role of members of the fictional Workforce Risk Division and provides IT and security teams with ready-to-use materials for building stronger cybersecurity awareness and organizational resilience.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month is observed every October as an international initiative led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance. The annual campaign encourages organizations and individuals to strengthen their cybersecurity practices, with key areas including social engineering, artificial intelligence threats, data security and incident reporting.

Four Cybersecurity Missions for Employees

KnowBe4’s eighth annual resource kit divides October into four weekly “cyber missions.” Each week focuses on a specific area of cybersecurity risk:

• Phishing and social engineering
• AI safety and deepfakes
• Data security and passwords
• Incident reporting

Employees are introduced to four Workforce Risk Division specialists, each representing a different set of skills for addressing common cyber threats.

Erich Kron, CISO advisor at KnowBe4, said Cybersecurity Awareness Month gives security teams an opportunity to introduce fresh and engaging content while reinforcing secure behaviour among employees. He noted that the growing use of AI by cybercriminals, including deepfakes and sophisticated social engineering techniques, makes continuous awareness increasingly important.

Resource Kit Includes Training and Tabletop Exercises

The free kit provides organizations with a range of materials that can be incorporated into their cybersecurity awareness programmes.

Resources include four Workforce Risk Division specialist character cards and posters, additional posters and digital signage in multiple languages, and four tabletop exercises designed around real-world cybersecurity scenarios.

Organizations can also access selected security awareness training videos and interactive modules from KnowBe4’s training library. The kit includes a Cybersecurity Awareness Month Resource Kit Strategy Dossier and Weekly Planner to help security teams organize activities throughout October.

Additional resources include a “top-secret” mission brief highlighting a free KnowBe4 tool, as well as access to two recent on-demand webinars and whitepapers.

Focus on Building a Stronger Security Culture

The initiative reflects the growing importance of employee awareness as organizations face increasingly sophisticated cyber risks. Social engineering, phishing and AI-generated deception can target employees across different departments, making cybersecurity awareness an organization-wide responsibility rather than an issue limited to IT teams.

Lisa Plaggemier, executive director of the National Cybersecurity Alliance, said cybersecurity knowledge plays an important role in creating a safer digital environment and highlighted the importance of practical guidance for individuals, families and organizations.

By combining training content, interactive exercises and campaign materials, KnowBe4 aims to help organizations make cybersecurity awareness more engaging while giving employees practical tools to identify and respond to potential threats.
