Hino Motors to Enter Dakar Rally 2020
Teams put racing skills to test at world’s toughest rally event happening for first time in Saudi Arabia

From Jan 5 to 17, Hino Motors, Ltd. (From now on "Hino." HQ: Hino, Tokyo. President and CEO: Yoshio Shimo) will race as HINO TEAM SUGAWARA (director: Teruhito Sugawara) in Dakar Rally 2020, the primary occasion since its migration to Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Yoshimasa Sugawara, who has coordinated the group for approximately 30 years, has resigned from the Dakar Rally toward the finish of the past occasion. Mr. Teruhito Sugawara, who succeeds him as the group's new director, will drive an updated and matured Car 1 (in view of the Hino 500 series), and Mr. Ikuo Hanawa, who was brought in to succeed Mr. Yoshimasa as driver, will drive the group's new Car 2 (*based on a truck grew explicitly for the North American market) that highlights a cap type taxi and automatic transmission.

The two vehicles will be changed over from two-seaters—the format spent until the past season—to three-seaters to enable an accomplished mechanic to ride alongside the driver and navigator. This will help support the teams' capacity to react to issues and race all the more forcefully.

The group has developed both of their trucks after their real world testing in Silk Way Rally 2019 this July. In taking on this Dakar Rally 2020 in Saudi Arabia, which will be in an unfamiliar area, the group will likewise be strengthening their list of mechanics and support members.

Hino Motors Middle East FZE (Subsidiary of Hino Motors in Middle East) will stretch out nearby coordination to Hino Dakar Technical Team.
