Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), conducted a comprehensive inspection visit to the fishing port in the Ghalilah area of Ras Al Khaimah. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the progress of the port development project and to receive updates on ongoing maintenance work aimed at enhancing facilities for fishermen across the nation in collaboration with strategic partners.

The recent weather conditions and heavy rainfall in the UAE prompted this visit, which aligns with the Ministry's steadfast commitment to inspecting ports and facilities that support fishermen and farmers. This initiative underscores the Ministry's dedication to ensuring high-quality services for stakeholders nationwide.

Accompanying Her Excellency Dr. Al Dahak were esteemed officials including H.E. Mohammed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of MOCCAE; H.E. Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for Biodiversity and Marine Life Sector at MOCCAE; and other key figures representing the Ministry and local fishing associations.

In her remarks, Her Excellency emphasized the UAE's unwavering support for fishermen and the vital role they play in the nation's cultural and economic landscape. She reiterated the Ministry's commitment to engaging with fishermen, addressing their concerns, and promoting sustainable practices to bolster fish stocks and enhance national food security.

Dr. Al Dahak stated, "Our visit to the fishing port in the Ghalilah region underscores our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and efficiency of port infrastructure, particularly following the recent exceptional weather event that affected the country."

Highlighting the significance of the Ghalilah port, Dr. Al Dahak assured continuous monitoring and support from relevant Ministry departments to uphold the port's functionality and provide necessary assistance during challenging times.

During the visit, discussions were held with local fishermen and representatives from the Ghalilah Fishermen’s Council regarding Ministry services, organizational decisions, and strategies for sustainable fishing practices. The fishermen expressed appreciation for MOCCAE's attention and were pleased with the commencement of the surface fishing season this year.

Additionally, a session with farmers from the Ghalilah region addressed various agricultural issues, emphasizing the Ministry's commitment to rehabilitating national farms, implementing modern agricultural techniques, and promoting product marketing in local markets.

Her Excellency Dr. Al Dahak extended gratitude to all parties involved in addressing the impacts of recent rains and commended the unity and solidarity demonstrated by the Emirati community during challenging times. The visit concluded with renewed pledges to support and enhance the fishing and agricultural sectors in Ras Al Khaimah and across the UAE.
