H.E. Al Owais on FNCs 49th Anniversary: The Federal National Council Is a Cornerstone of the UAEs Parliamentary Success, And Key for Its Progress and Prosperity

His Excellency Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, Minister of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs, asserted that the series of significant achievements the FNC has made since its establishment are a cornerstone of the UAEs parliamentary success, fuelling its plans for a bright future over the next 50 years.

As a legislative and supervisory authority, the Federal National Council has actively contributed to the widespread development the UAE is enjoying across all sectors, H.E. Al Owais said in a statement on the occasion of the FNCs 49th anniversary. The Council has always strived to establish complementary relations with government agencies, as well as to consistently align with the objectives of the UAEs wise leadership. With that in mind, the FNC was the entity most capable of bringing the issues that matter most to citizens to the table to be discussed and resolved. This, in turn, empowered the Emirati people to accomplish and take the lead in many sectors regionally and internationally.

The Federal National Council is a distinguished constitutional body that has played a incredible role in the UAEs rise, discussing and passing dozens of laws and resolutions, H.E. explained, adding: This period of empowerment spearheaded by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has boosted the Councils role as the voice of the people, enabling Emirati citizens to be involved in the decision-making process and to uphold their responsibilities in maintaining the momentum of development and prosperity.

The Council embodies the Shura culture that our Union was founded on, H.E. Al Owais continued. Our Founding Father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan believed that prioritising the needs and aspirations of our citizens is the foundation of a strong country that can compete with and surpass other nations to become an inspiring role model that illustrates how investing in human beings can turn dreams into reality, and challenges into opportunities.

H.E. went on to explain that the FNC was adamant to continue holding its sessions remotely over the past year as the COVID-19 pandemic spread. The Council discussed peoples needs and issues, raising their concerns to decision-makers, and taking all the necessary steps to meet their demands, adding a new accomplishment to its track record.

H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais thanked FNC Speaker H.E. Saqr Ghobash and all Council members and congratulated them on the FNCs 49th Anniversary. This years anniversary coincides with the UAEs 50th, where our country celebrates the myriad accomplishments it has made since its inception, all the while preparing for the 50 years to come. This compels all of us to multiply our efforts to fulfil the UAE Centennial 2071 vision, which calls for the utmost coordination between the legislative and executive authorities.

The Federal National Council was founded on February 12, 1972, and quickly became a cornerstone of the effort to develop the UAEs legislative and legal environment. The FNC has played an active role in realising the UAEs ambitious vision to develop its people, hone their skills, and meet their demands and aspirations.
