Gulzars storytelling brilliance grabs the spotlight at DSF

As the spotlight moved from one character to another, Gulzars stories both captivating and powerful grabbed the attention of the numerous drama enthusiasts who flocked to Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates, to savour a grand theatrical three-day feast which concluded on 17 January.

A stellar cast of actors including Atul Kulkarni, Yashpal Sharma, Nisar Khan, Amit Jairath, Salim Arim, Lubna Salim, Bakul Thakkar, Neetu Pandey, Pooja Nair, Yassir Khan, Vrajesh Hirjee and Bakul Thakkar took to the stage as they brought to life many of Gulzars characters.

The three-day agenda included a fascinating collection of plays named Kharaashein, Sunte Ho and Arre O Henry a riveting mix of touching stage performances written by Gulzar and directed by his longtime associate and film and theatre director Salim Arif.

The final attraction RUBARU (face to face with Gulzar) saw many fans gather in celebration of a memorable heart-to-heart conversation between the award-winning lyricist and Salim Arif. And Gulzars recital of a few select poems left everyone mesmerised with the magic of his voice and the impact of his words.

Gulzaar Theatre Fiesta was hosted as part of the 20th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). The 32-day extravaganza runs until 1 February, under the theme, A Journey of Celebrations, with more than 150 citywide events, mega attractions, numerous shopping opportunities and amazing winning options in store for visitors and residents from around the world.
