UAE warns about foods with hidden salt — are you unknowingly consuming too much sodium?

During World Salt Awareness Week, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) urged residents to reduce sodium intake, warning that hidden salt in common foods—like processed meats, sauces, snacks, and canned goods—can raise risks of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and kidney issues. Despite WHO’s 5g daily salt limit, UAE residents often exceed it due to processed foods and restaurant meals. MoHAP recommends reading food labels, choosing fresh ingredients, cooking at home, and using herbs instead of salt.
