Can teenagers get summer jobs in the UAE and what does the law say?

Yes — under UAE law, teenagers aged 15 to 18 can work during summer breaks, but only under strict conditions set by Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 and related regulations: the employer must obtain a juvenile work permit through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, written parental or guardian consent is mandatory, and the teen must pass a medical fitness test; working hours are capped at six hours per day with breaks, night work (7pm–7am), overtime, hazardous jobs, rest days and public holiday work are prohibited — which means a 16-year-old may legally take a temporary summer job if all approvals are in place, but a 14-year-old cannot be employed yet — do you think summer jobs are a good way for teens in the UAE to build responsibility and skills, or should the focus remain only on studies?
